Curating Brands
When looking to start-up an online business for the first time the best tip I would give you is to start with a proposal deck. This helps 1. you to streamline your focus and get exactly what you want and 2. help the brands you are approaching to understand your vision. A short and simple deck outlining your intentions will start a conversation with a brand you are interested in stocking as well as proving to them how well aligned you are to support their brand in growing.
Please find below an example of a quick brand proposal deck:
Start with the tag line of your brand. This piece of copy should communicate to the consumer the tone of voice of your brand.
Firstly talk about the aim of the site and the philosophy behind the brand, this will capture your readers attention and convince them to read on if the project is right for them.
This is where your prospective brand decides if they are the correct fit for your website. Here show them exactly what they can expect when joining your site.
This is key to online success, you must show that you are thinking global in order for your prospective brands to make the leap to join you.
Prove to them that your site will be different by showcasing current sites doing what you want.
Finally show them how their product will be laid out and the design intentions for the site, making it clear that this is different to what e-commerce sites have offered them before.
